Here is the SignUpGenius link to schedule the day and time when you can come to GSC
to pick up your child(ren)'s belongings and to return anything you borrowed from school: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c4daea729abf85-endofyear. For a variety of reasons – all associated with closings and cancellations due to the coronavirus pandemic – the Good Shepherd Home and School Association is delaying their YETI® Raffle drawing until Thursday, September 24, 2020, at “Back-To-School Night” for the 2020-2021 academic year. The drawing originally was scheduled to take place on Good Shepherd Sunday, May 3, 2020. Thank you for your understanding and support! Effective immediately, and until further notice, Philadelphia Archbishop Nelson Pérez has dispensed the faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. However, all regularly-scheduled Masses will remain open to the public for those who wish to attend.
In response to Governor Tom Wolf’s declaration for Montgomery County, PA, in regards to COVID-19: As of Friday, March 13, Queen of Peace Parish is canceling ALL ACTIVITIES EXCEPT FOR daily Mass, Sunday Mass, Saturday and Wednesday Confessions, and Adoration. We also will continue to celebrate funerals and scheduled weddings. The parish will still have the First Penance Service scheduled for Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. Cancellations include, but are not limited to: Wednesday evening PREP classes, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Sodality, Schoenstatt, Lenten Soups on Friday nights, CYO activities, Senior Citizen activities, Lottery, Tuesday and Thursday Prayer Groups, and all Scouting events. Cancellations also include the sale of Scrip and Raffle tickets at Masses. We will have this policy in place for as long as the governor has his directives in place (until March 27 at this time). Please understand that as we receive instructions and guidance from archdiocesan and state/county government officials, the above situations could change. Good Shepherd Catholic School will be closed in accordance with Governor Wolf’s directives. Please refer to the school’s Website – www.gscregional.org – for additional information. Dear Parents,
The Governor of Pennsylvania held a press conference this (Thursday) afternoon closing ALL schools, gyms, and other entertainment type venues starting Friday, March 13, 2020, AND CONTINUING FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, in an effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19. This means all extra-curricular events as well. GSC will be closed tomorrow, March 13, through Friday, March 27. Classes will resume on Monday, March 30. The Mother/Son Brunch scheduled for Sunday, March 29, is postponed. Additional information will be sent concerning online assignments and learning experiences. These assignments will begin on Monday (March 16). We have been preparing in the event that this would happen. However, we thought, IF it happened, it would be later in the Spring. I would also like to share a link (click here) from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). This is a good resource for parents on how to talk to your child about this virus. We will continue to send updates Please remember this is all of our first time going through something like this. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time. Keep safe! If you have any questions or concerns, we can be reached by email. God Bless and protect your family! Sister Helen GOAL: $7,000.00
FINAL AMOUNT RAISED (as of 2:00 AM 2/4/2020): $14,825.00! We surpassed our goal on Friday, January 17! Then, we reached our second benchmark – $10,000.00 in honor of our 10th school year – on Friday, January 24! And we totaled $13,445.00 as the last dance song played on Friday, January 31! Lastly, we got to double our initial goal on Monday, February 3, the end date for our online fundraising. Our students and teachers will benefit greatly from our donors' generosity and support! If you have a hobby, craft or skill that you can share with GSC students, we have an after-school Enrichment Program that will take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during March. Please reach out to Coordinator Kitty Ratner if this volunteer opportunity is something you would be interested in doing. You also can send an email to [email protected] to express your interest.

GSC’s two-week Thanksgiving Food Drive brought in almost 400 pounds – or two-and-a-half pounds per enrolled student – of canned soup, corn, green beans and baked beans; boxed stuffing and mac and cheese mixes and various varieties of pasta and rice; jars of gravy, apple sauce and peanut butter; and more! The drive’s organizer, GSC preschool teacher Mrs. Kim Franzone, along with a couple of parents and seven students, delivered the school’s donations to the food cupboard on the Monday before Thanksgiving. They took a tour of the facility to learn more about the impact of donating to those who need food assistance for different reasons. Prior to the delivery to Norristown, back in Ardsley, GSC’s preschool students worked with their fourth and fifth grade buddies to sort and box up the many food items. The Patrician Society is online at https://www.patriciansociety.org/. |
